Osteoporosis is known as the "silent bone killer." According to the National Epidemiological Survey on Osteoporosis, the prevalence of osteoporosis among people over 50 years old in China reaches 19.2%, and rises to 32.0% among those over 65 years old, with a significantly higher prevalence in women than in men. Fracture risk not only seriously affects quality of life but may also lead to long-term complications. Among numerous prevention and treatment methods, teriparatide acetate (CAS: 52232-67-4), as a unique bone-forming agent, brings new hope to people at high risk of fractures, and its clinical value has been confirmed by multiple authoritative studies.

Different from traditional drugs that inhibit bone resorption, teriparatide acetate is a synthetic parathyroid hormone analog. By simulating the pulsatile secretion pattern of physiological parathyroid hormone, it precisely activates osteoblast activity and promotes new bone formation at the source. A clinical study showed that after 12 months of daily subcutaneous injection of 20μg teriparatide acetate, patients' lumbar spine bone mineral density (BMD) increased by 8.48% compared with the baseline, which was significantly better than the 1.17% in the placebo group, and bone pain symptoms were also significantly relieved.

Its efficacy has also been verified in special populations. A randomized controlled trial targeting male primary osteoporosis confirmed that after 12 months of treatment, patients' lumbar spine and femoral neck BMD both achieved significant improvement with good safety. For postmenopausal women at high risk of fractures, this drug can significantly reduce the risk of vertebral and non-vertebral fractures, becoming one of the preferred clinical options. In addition, it can effectively reverse bone loss and reduce the risk of vertebral fractures in glucocorticoid-induced osteoporosis.

In terms of safety, clinical data show that most adverse reactions are mild and transient, including common nausea, limb pain, dizziness, and mild injection site reactions, which mostly gradually alleviate as treatment progresses. It should be noted that the maximum treatment duration with this product is 24 months, and only one 24-month course of treatment is allowed in a lifetime; if dietary calcium intake is insufficient during medication, additional calcium and vitamin D supplements are required, and blood calcium levels should be monitored as prescribed by the doctor.

Bone health requires scientific protection. With its unique mechanism of "promoting bone formation," teriparatide acetate provides a differentiated solution for osteoporosis treatment. However, it is necessary to strictly follow the indications and exclude contraindications such as allergies, hypercalcemia, and severe renal insufficiency. Paying attention to the bone health of middle-aged and elderly people, and taking scientific interventions early, may help every elder have a strong bone support and stay away from fracture troubles.
